what a way to end a grueling work week. standing in the rain and watching cab after cab ignore my attempts to hail them. a drink is what I need. the thought instantly improves my mood. turning and walking towards my favorite watering hole. the rain dripping down my collar off of the newspaper I'm holding over my head in a feeble attempt to fend off the deluge of rain. opening the door of 'mikes place' instantly improved my disposition. the thought of a shot warming my body turned up the corners of my mouth. telling the server, a double jack please. turning it up and downing it instantly warmed me to my soul. as i nurse a single shot i hear the bell atop the door jingle. looking up i see her walk in. gracefully glide over to the bar and sit. ordering then with a satisfied sigh placing her drink upon the bar. she looks around the bar taking in the scene. glancing in my direction our eyes connect...
